Most Puget Sound Energy customers miss one key detail. Which rebates you can claim depends on whether PSE supplies your electricity, your natural gas, or both. Several 2026 offers also close on December 31, 2026. This guide compares selected PSE residential energy-efficiency rebates in one table. It shows standard and income-qualified amounts. It breaks down the heat pump options by what heats your home today. And it lists the 30 or 60 day claim windows that trip up a lot of people. Rebates cover only the listed efficiency equipment. Preparing for severe western Washington windstorms requires a separate plan for reliable backup power.
PSE Rebates at a Glance: 2026 Amounts Table
Puget Sound Energy serves 1.26 million electric customers and nearly 900,000 natural gas customers. Its service area spans roughly 6,000 square miles across western Washington.
The rebates in this guide are PSE's energy-efficiency programs for existing single-family homes. Single-family new construction, multifamily buildings with five or more attached units, and commercial accounts are not eligible for them. Multifamily buildings, manufactured homes, and new construction may qualify for separate PSE programs, so check PSE's rebates page for the one that fits your home. Some rebates require PSE electric service and others require natural gas, so confirm the requirements for each rebate before you apply.
These efficiency initiatives run under a 2026 to 2027 Biennial Conservation Plan. The Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission reviews this plan. On January 14, 2026, the UTC voted 3 to 0 to accept PSE conservation targets (Dockets UE-250834 and UG-250835). The UTC establishes broad conservation targets. PSE determines the exact rebate amounts listed on its website.

Program Guidelines and Conditions
Processing times: PSE asks customers to allow 4 to 6 weeks for rebate processing.
Price caps: A rebate payout cannot exceed the total purchase price of the item.
Stacking rules: Customers cannot stack rebates with other utility offers unless specifically noted.
Energy advisor support: Need personalized help? Call PSE Energy Advisors at 1-800-562-1482 (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.).
Appliance promotions: Limited-time offers may differ from the standard amounts shown in this guide. Check PSE's appliance rebate page for current promotional amounts, eligibility, and purchase deadlines before you buy.
Gas-only customers: Electric-only upgrades require active electric service through PSE. If another utility supplies your electricity, check their rebate programs instead.
Rebates pay back faster when electricity costs in Seattle already take a big bite of your budget. Start with your own bill history.
The largest incentives on the schedule target home heating. PSE divides these programs into four distinct paths based on your current heating setup.
Puget Sound Energy Heat Pump Rebates: Which One Matches Your Current Heat
PSE avoids a single catch-all heat pump rebate. The utility offers four specific programs tied to your existing heating setup. All heat pump rebates process directly through your contractor. Selecting an approved contractor is part of the application process.

Follow these steps in order:
Identify how you currently heat your living space.
Pick the corresponding PSE rebate path.
Hire an approved contractor from the PSE network.
Baseboards, Wall Heaters, or an Electric Furnace ($1,500 / $2,400 Boost)
This offer covers homes using PSE electric resistance heat, including baseboard heaters, wall heaters, electric furnaces, and radiant ceiling or floor heating.
Eligible replacements include:
Ductless systems: An AHRI-certified variable-speed mini-split or multi-split, at least three-quarters of a ton in heating mode, with an indoor head in the main living area.
Ducted systems: An AHRI-certified, all-electric central heat pump. Dual-fuel systems aren't allowed under this offer.
Homes already using a heat pump for their main living area don't qualify. PSE generally limits this incentive to one rebate per single-family home.
Keeping Your Gas Furnace as Backup: Hybrid Heat Pump ($1,500 / $2,400 Boost)
This path fits PSE natural gas or dual-fuel customers whose primary heat is a central gas furnace. The heat pump must be an AHRI-certified, central ducted air-source model paired with an existing or new gas forced-air furnace. Ductless heat pumps are not eligible for this hybrid rebate. Two temperature rules apply. First, the system's calculated balance point must be 30°F or below. This comes from a load calculation based on your home and the equipment's capacity, not from a thermostat setting. Second, your contractor must set the controls so the compressor lockout does not exceed that balance point and the gas furnace's auxiliary heat lockout is 35°F or below.
Replacing an Old Heat Pump ($1,500 / $2,400 Boost)
You must replace an existing centrally ducted, all-electric heat pump that's outside its original manufacturer's warranty. The replacement must meet PSE's cold-climate performance requirements, including a coefficient of performance (COP) of at least 1.75 at 5°F. Its heating capacity at 5°F must also reach at least 70% of its capacity at 47°F.
Switching Off Gas Entirely, Income-Qualified ($4,000)
This program helps eligible PSE natural gas customers replace gas heating with an electric heat pump. Ducted and ductless systems may qualify if they meet program requirements. Your old gas equipment must be removed or decommissioned. PSE allows certain cut-and-cap arrangements. Apply within 30 days of installation.
Manufactured and mobile homes: Manufactured home owners can qualify for higher PSE heating rebates. PSE lists $2,400 for electric resistance to heat pump conversions, hybrid heat pumps, and heat pump replacements, and $4,000 for the income-qualified gas-to-heat-pump conversion. Service requirements follow each program. The electric resistance conversion requires PSE electric service and electric resistance as your primary heat, and the hybrid requires PSE natural gas or dual-fuel service and a gas furnace as your primary heat. PSE's manufactured homes page also carries a note that customers must have PSE natural gas and electric service, but it doesn't say which programs the note covers. Confirm with a PSE Energy Advisor at 1-800-562-1482 before you apply.
Contractor rule: All four programs require a PSE Recommended Energy Professional or Trade Ally. DIY installations and out-of-network contractors aren't permitted. Manufactured and mobile homes have separate eligibility requirements; confirm the service and equipment conditions for the specific rebate with PSE before applying.
Choosing between a ductless mini-split versus ducted heat pump usually depends on whether your house already has ductwork, which also decides which PSE rule set applies.
A new heat pump makes the house more efficient. It also means more of your winter comfort rides on electricity. That matters when a Pacific windstorm takes the lines down.
PSE Efficiency Rebates and Backup Power: EcoFlow TITAN 5000 Classic and EcoFlow TITAN 5000 Plus for Windstorm Outages
The PSE energy-efficiency rebates covered in this guide apply to the equipment listed in each rebate's program guidelines. This means heat pump, thermostat, and appliance incentives do not extend to home batteries or backup power. Backup power is a separate investment you make to keep your home running during an outage. Wiring any home battery system directly into your electrical circuits must be handled by a licensed electrician.
Western Washington's fall and winter weather regularly brings heavy winds and falling trees onto local power lines. NASA Earth Observatory reports that a strong extratropical cyclone swept through the Pacific Northwest on November 19, 2024. During that storm, the National Weather Service in Seattle clocked wind gusts up to 77 mph in the mountains southeast of the city, causing widespread outages across the region.
During severe weather, keep track of conditions by checking PSE's outage map and the NWS Seattle office. If you spot downed power lines or face an immediate emergency, call 911 first.
Keeping the power on is especially critical for food storage. According to FoodSafety.gov, a refrigerator keeps food safely cold for up to 4 hours without power. A full freezer maintains safe temperatures for approximately 48 hours, or about 24 hours if half full, as long as the door stays closed.
To give you an idea of runtime, take an example EnergyGuide label from the DOE Building America Solution Center. It shows a typical refrigerator consuming around 630 kWh per year, which comes out to roughly 1.7 kWh (1,700Wh) per day.
Base capacity: 5,000Wh
Usable power (factoring an 85% conversion-loss planning assumption): 5,000Wh × 0.85 ≈ 4,250Wh
Estimated runtime: 4,250Wh ÷ 1,700Wh/day ≈ 2.5 days for that refrigerator alone
Plugging in lighting or keeping your router running will shorten that duration. Use the EnergyGuide label on your own refrigerator to find its specific consumption, and check the wattage tags on your other electronics to map out your backup plan.
"Neither the EcoFlow TITAN 5000 Classic nor the EcoFlow TITAN 5000 Plus is currently eligible for Puget Sound Energy's PSE Flex Batteries rebate or enrollment incentives. However, both units are capable of reducing electric utility bills when configured for solar self-consumption or automated time-of-use (TOU) load shifting. Actual bill savings depend on household load, solar production, system capacity, and the rate structure of your local electric utility."
It is also worth distinguishing retail backup products from PSE's Flex Batteries program. Flex Batteries is a pay-for-performance demand response program rather than an equipment purchase rebate. Enrolled customers earn $75 per kWh of storage capacity upon joining (up to $1,000 per battery), plus $0.50 per kWh for participating in peak Flex events (up to $500 per battery annually).
Event schedules: Winter events run from November 1 to March 31, while summer events span May 1 to September 30. These take place between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m., with up to 50 events per season (100 per year).
Technical requirements: Requires an AMI smart meter and approved utility grid interconnection.
Eligible equipment: Participating brands listed by PSE include Enphase, FranklinWH, SolarEdge (including qualified LG batteries with SolarEdge inverters), and Tesla. EcoFlow is not listed as of October 11, 2026, and neither the EcoFlow TITAN Classic nor the EcoFlow TITAN Plus qualifies for this program.
Enhanced incentives: Special tracks exist through network contractors for eligible battery systems, including Pathway A (up to $10,000 based on income and qualifications) and Pathway B (up to $5,000 in designated grid areas).
Here is how the two systems line up on the specs that decide which outage loads they can carry:
EcoFlow TITAN 5000 Classic delivers dedicated 120V backup power for everyday essentials like your refrigerator, interior lights, Wi-Fi router, and phones. It is not designed to power heavy 240V equipment like a heat pump, central air conditioner, well pump, or electric dryer.
EcoFlow TITAN 5000 Plus is built for compatible higher loads and home circuits that need 120V/240V, using Smart Home Panel 10 (240V version) installed by a licensed electrician. Whether either unit can run a specific heat pump depends on that unit, the circuits you back up, and available battery and solar power.
A battery is just one part of winter outage preparation. Keep flashlights, food, charged phones, and an emergency plan ready, too.
Back to the rebates themselves. The smaller-ticket offers on thermostats, water heaters, and laundry are the ones most households can claim on their own, without a contractor.
Smart Thermostat, Water Heater, and Appliance Rebates
Smaller rebates follow a simple "buy it, then claim it" structure. Most do not require working with an approved contractor. However, you must buy approved models and submit receipts within the required claim window.

Puget Sound Energy Thermostat Rebate
PSE offers the following incentives:
Smart thermostat: $75 standard or $175 with Efficiency Boost.
Connected line-voltage thermostat: $75 standard or $130 with Efficiency Boost.
Smart thermostats must be ENERGY STAR certified and have an onboard motion sensor or include one. Geofencing alone doesn't meet PSE's motion-sensing requirement.
Your home must have a centralized heating system using a heat pump, forced-air furnace, or boiler. The system must use PSE electricity or natural gas. Line-voltage thermostats require PSE electric heat.
Purchase, install, and connect the thermostat by December 31, 2026. Apply within 60 days. PSE Marketplace offers instant rebates at checkout. Limits include one smart thermostat rebate per address every five years and up to five line-voltage rebates during that period.
Heat Pump Water Heater
PSE electric customers can receive $1,000 for an eligible Tier 3 or Tier 4 heat pump water heater. Efficiency Boost raises the amount to $1,100.
The unit must be installed on or after January 1, 2026, and use PSE electricity after installation. Apply within 30 days. Participating Lowe's and The Home Depot stores may offer instant discounts, as can participating installers.
Puget Sound Energy Appliance Rebates
Front-load washers: $75 standard rebate ($125 via Efficiency Boost).
Electric dryers: $50 standard rebate ($100 via Boost).
Heat pump dryers: $350 standard rebate ($400 via Boost).
Program rules: Applicants must have an active PSE electric account. Choose models listed on PSE's monthly qualified product directories. Buy and install appliances by December 31, 2026, and file within 60 days. PSE issues payments through utility bill credits or mailed checks.
Current appliance promotions focus entirely on laundry equipment. PSE does not currently offer rebates for kitchen refrigerators or freezers.
Many buyers shop for smart thermostats that automate heating schedules by app features, but for this rebate the model also has to meet PSE's motion-sensor rule, so check the qualified list first.
Thermostats and appliances trim usage. But the biggest heat losses in older Puget Sound homes are usually in the attic, walls, and ducts. That's where PSE pays by the square foot.
Insulation, Windows, and PSE's Free Home Energy Assessment
Weatherization rebates are calculated per square foot or per window frame. Larger home projects qualify for higher total payouts. Weatherization work requires a certified network contractor, though window replacements allow self-selected installers.
Measure | Rebate |
Attic insulation, R11 or less to R49 | $1.75 per sq ft (up to $3,500) |
Attic insulation, R12 to R19 to R49 | $0.50 per sq ft (up to $1,000) |
Wall insulation | $2.50 per sq ft (up to $5,000) |
Floor insulation | $2.50 per sq ft (up to $5,000) |
Air sealing, attic | $0.20 per sq ft (up to $400) |
Air sealing, floor | $0.20 per sq ft (up to $400) |
Duct sealing and insulation | Up to $1,000 per home |
Duct sealing only | Up to $550 per home |
Advanced duct sealing | Up to $1,250 per home |
ENERGY STAR whole house ventilation | $50 per unit (up to $100), PSE electric-heated homes only |
Eligibility generally requires PSE electricity or natural gas as the primary heating fuel. A REP or Trade Ally must complete the work. Efficiency Boost may provide higher incentives to eligible households.
Window rebates
PSE offers up to $100 per qualifying replacement window, with higher Efficiency Boost amounts of up to $200 per window.
U-factor 0.23–0.30: $50 per window.
U-factor 0.22 or lower: $100 per window.
The offer applies to qualifying replacements for single-pane wood- or metal-framed windows. Install by December 31, 2026, and apply within 60 days. Contractors outside PSE's network may be allowed if the work meets program specifications.
PSE Home Energy Assessment
Eligible customers with an active PSE account can request a free home energy assessment. It covers existing single-family homes and certain attached homes with up to four units sharing a roofline.
Choose an in-home visit with a PSE Energy Guide or complete the online assessment through myPSE. You'll receive recommendations and referrals to contractors. The five-year eligibility restriction applies to the in-home assessment. PSE recommends revisiting the online assessment annually or whenever changes in your home may affect energy use.
Schedule through PSE or contact 425-523-9228 or HEA@PSE.franklinenergy.com for assistance.
Knowing why attic insulation R-value matters explains why PSE pays more than three times as much per square foot to bring an R11 attic to R49 as it does for an R19 attic.
Every rebate above has a claim window and, for income-qualified homes, a bigger version, so the last step is applying correctly.
How to Apply, Deadlines, and Higher Rebates Through Efficiency Boost
PSE uses three claim paths. Contractors file for heat pumps and insulation. Instant discounts come through PSE Marketplace and participating retailers. Everything else is an online or paper application. Deadlines differ by measure.
Confirm PSE supplies the fuel the rebate needs (electric, gas, or either).
Check the qualified products list or contractor network before buying.
Keep the receipt or paid invoice showing brand, model number, price, and date, plus your PSE account number.
Apply within the window: 30 days after installation (heat pump water heaters, income-qualified gas-to-heat-pump conversions), 60 days after purchase (thermostats, laundry appliances), or 60 days after installation (windows).
Meet the 12/31/2026 purchase or installation deadline for thermostats, laundry appliances, and windows. This is separate from the claim window.
Allow 4 to 6 weeks for processing.
How Efficiency Boost Works
Efficiency Boost provides higher incentives to income-qualified customers. Eligibility depends on gross monthly household income, household size, and county. Income generally combines the earnings of household members aged 18 and older.
PSE's online estimator gives an estimate, not final approval. Submit an application to confirm eligibility. Enhanced offers cover qualifying heat pumps, thermostats, laundry appliances, water heaters, insulation, duct sealing, windows, and other listed upgrades.
The amounts in this article are PSE's 2026 offers, as listed on its rebate pages when this article was written. Offers with December 31, 2026 deadlines may change in January, so check the official PSE rebates page before committing to a purchase.
If the water heater is next on your list, understanding how heat pump water heaters save energy makes it easier to pick a Tier 3 or Tier 4 model that qualifies.
Conclusion
Puget Sound Energy rebates in 2026 range from $50 on electric dryers to $1,500 on heat pump conversions ($2,400 with Efficiency Boost) and $4,000 for income-qualified gas switches. Per-square-foot insulation incentives and free energy assessments provide even more value. Match each upgrade to your PSE fuel type and hire an approved network contractor where one is required. Then check the timing rules for your specific rebate. Thermostats, laundry appliances, and windows must be purchased or installed by December 31, 2026. Thermostats and appliances have a 60-day claim window from the purchase date, and windows have 60 days from installation. Heat pump water heaters and income-qualified gas-to-heat-pump conversions must be claimed within 30 days of installation. PSE's efficiency rebates don't cover backup power, and neither EcoFlow TITAN model is on PSE's Flex Batteries eligible list. If severe windstorms threaten your comfort, have a licensed electrician install the EcoFlow TITAN Classic for essential 120V loads or the EcoFlow TITAN Plus for full 120V/240V circuits.
