Parks Canada 2026 Reservations: The New Rolling Launch Dates Explained

EcoFlow

Camping in Canada requires planning, since the reservation systems for various parks usually don’t open at the same time or for the same duration. Some open for the entire season, others use rolling launch dates, and others use lotteries. Knowing when to book is just as important as knowing where you want to go. So, this guide breaks down how rolling reservations work, key booking dates, and what you need to know so you don’t miss out on your ideal campsite this year.

Understand the Provincial 3-Month Rolling Reservation Window

It may still be cold outside, but now’s the time to dig out the camping checklist and start planning this year’s outdoor adventures.

One thing to keep in mind is that some provincial parks now use a three-month rolling reservation window, which may affect your planning. For instance, BC Parks recently shifted to a three-month period.

What exactly are rolling reservations? It simply means that not all spots open at once. Instead, new spots become available every day exactly three months before the arrival date. The reservation window for provincial parks varies with each province, park, and campground. Always confirm the exact dates in advance.

Reservation windows for our national parks managed by Parks Canada also vary, with some sites offering a six-month registration window and others using lotteries instead.

When You Can Book: Earliest Dates and Season Openings

Booking dates vary with location. With BC Parks’ new three-month rolling reservation window, you can officially start booking campsites on Dec 19, 2025. This gives you the earliest camping date for March 19, 2026, although most campgrounds aren’t open that early. If you want to camp in April, when most campgrounds open, book in January; for May camping, book in February.

To find your earliest date to make reservations with Parks Canada, check the individual campground on their website, since dates often vary by site. Check early and book as early as you can.

Start thinking about what to take camping, and get any equipment you may be lacking. For instance, most campers now bring portable power solutions to stay powered up and connected. The EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus Portable Power Station is compact and lightweight enough to fit in a backpack yet powerful enough to run lights and small portable appliances.

Booking Rules and Deposit Requirements

When booking with Parks Canada, a credit card is a must since most reservations require a deposit. Sites with cabins, Yurts, oTENTiks, or other roofed accommodations usually also require a damage deposit upon arrival.

Also, Parks Canada has strict policies preventing third-party booking or transfers since the credit card on the reservation must match the person camping. Provincial parks may or may not be as strict. For example, BC Parks only requires a valid credit card and doesn’t require that the card belong to the person camping.

Since not all sites have services, bring along your portable, battery-operated whole-home generator. For extended off-grid adventures, pair it with solar panels to stay powered up indefinitely.

Featured Campgrounds and Highlights

Now, let’s take a look at a couple of featured Parks Canada campgrounds and their reservation dates.

Riding Mountain National Park, Manitoba

The Wasagaming campground offers over 400 reservable unserviced to fully serviced sites. Comfort campers can also rent roofed accommodations, including yurts, oTENTiks, and MicrOcubes. The campground is close to the beach, pier, restaurants, tennis courts, and the visitor centre. Reservations in Riding Mountain National Park open January 30, 2026.

Moon Lake is one of several wilderness campgrounds in Riding Mountain. While mostly first-come, first-served, it's best to check the website during peak season to confirm availability. This rustic site near a quiet lake offers hiking and paddling opportunities, including a boat launch for non-trailer boats. There are no services, so bring a power source like the EcoFlow RIVER 3 Series portable power station, which is built for outdoor adventures.

Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, British Columbia

The 511km² Pacific Rim National Park Reserve offers a unique coastal camping experience with rugged coastlines, sandy beaches, and old-growth temperate rainforests. Three distinct regions offer camping: Long Beach, Broken Group Islands, and the West Coast Trail.

Green Point Campground in Long Beach is the most accessible. Reservations open January 16, 2026, and it offers drive-in and walk-in sites, as well as oTENTiks for those who prefer camping in comfort. Not all sites have power, so bring along a portable backup power source

The Broken Group Islands offer camping on seven islands, only accessible by boat. Reservations open on January 16, 2026, and there are no amenities, so you must be self-sufficient.

Finally, the world-famous West Coast Trail is a multi-day backpacking journey that’s challenging even for experienced hikers. People are often rescued from this very remote trail, so ensure you’re physically prepared. Reservations start January 19, 2026, with overnight stays allowed only between May 1 and September 30.
